No Curled Edge
No Curled Edge

The edges will not easily curl or stick together during the tearing and sticking process, reducing the difficulty of construction.

High Durability and Long-Lasting Performance

YINDIAN wide duct tape has a reinforced three-layer structure, which maintains flexibility while possessing strong strength. This structure is supported by a strong, double-layer-thick rubber adhesive, which can form a permanent, high-viscosity connection even under extreme temperature changes and heavy mechanical stress.

The sturdy polyethylene backing provides waterproof and UV-resistant protection, preventing damage caused by environmental factors. We also employ a high-density fabric mesh, which provides extremely high tensile strength to prevent deformation or tearing under pressure.

High Durability and Long-Lasting Performance
Weatherproof and Resistant to Harsh Elements

Weatherproof and Resistant to Harsh Elements

When designing, we use a sturdy polyethylene (PE) outer layer as the protective layer of our wide-duct tape. This non-porous outer layer can prevent sunlight from damaging the internal fibers and protect the adhesive points of the tape from rain, snow, and moisture.

In addition, YINDIAN wide duct tape can keep sticky in a large temperature range (sub-zero to over 200°F). This ensures that the tape does not become brittle in cold conditions, and it also does not melt in extreme heat conditions.

Applications of Wide Duct Tape

Heavy-Duty Repair and Sealing
Heavy-Duty Repair and Sealing

Our wide duct tapes are ideal for various heavy-duty repairs, such as automobile emergency repairs, air-filled product repairs (large air slides, trampolines, or water floatation devices), and outdoor equipment repairs (tents, RV sunshades, or boat hulls).

Construction
Construction

You can use YINDIAN wide duct tape for many construction and home renovation projects. For example, you can use them to reinforce large window panes or seal the interfaces of large ventilation ducts (HVAC), repair large cracks in sofa leather, or wrap the edges of heavy wooden furniture.

Logistics and Warehousing

Is Wide Duct Tape Stronger Than Standard Duct Tape?

Yes. Wide duct tape has more scrim and backing material, so it has a higher tensile strength, and it also has higher adhesive grip because of a larger surface contact area.

Is the Wide Duct Tape Safe for Electrical Repairs?

No. Wide duct tape is not made of an insulator and can be flammable, so you should never use it to wrap exposed wires or as a substitute for UL-listed electrical tape.

Can the Wide Duct Tape be Used in an Overlapping Fashion?

Yes, but we recommend that the overlapping part be at least 1 inch (about 2.5 centimeters) in size. It should be noted that the adhesion at the overlapping area may be slightly lower than adhesion on a continuous surface because the backing material of wide-duct tapes is usually treated with hydrophobic treatment.

Can I Use Wide Duct Tape to Seal Leaking Water Pipes?

Yes, but it can only be used as a temporary emergency measure. If it’s just a leak in the drainage pipe, you can use wide duct tape as a temporary seal. However, for water pipes under pressure, the fabric layer of the cloth-based adhesive tape will be penetrated by water over time and eventually fail. In this case, you may need to think about other methods, such as self-fusing silicone tape or water-stop tape.

Will the Wide Duct Tape Damage My Wall Paint?

That is very possible, because high-quality wide-duct tape is designed for permanent bonding and heavy-duty repair. Its gripping force is extremely strong, so it is very likely to remove the paint and even the plaster layer from the drywall. If you just want a decoration, it’s better to choose masking tape.

Why Can’t I Tear My Wide Duct Tape?

Some ultra-wide duct tapes have extremely dense reinforcement layers, and they really can’t be easily torn off like standard tapes, so it’s normal that you cannot tear them. It is recommended to prepare a utility knife.

Can I Stick the Wide Duct Tape on a Surface with Water?

Usually, most tapes can not be stuck to surfaces with water because their adhesive cannot establish effective molecular bonds when encountering a water film. If you have the need to repair damp surfaces, you must choose the ultra-wide repair tape specifically labeled as “Wet Surface” or “Underwater,” which has a thicker adhesive and is more drainage-friendly.

Can Wide Duct Tape Prevent Mold Growth?

The polyethylene (PE) coating we applied does not absorb water and lacks organic nutrients, so it is not prone to mold growth. However, if the environment remains humid for an extended period, mold may grow at the fabric edges or in the adhesive layer.

Therefore, when you are using the tape in a humid environment, you need to ensure that the edges of the tape are fully pressed down without any air bubbles.

What is a Wide Duct Tape?

A wide duct tape refers to the tape that has a very wide width. Usually, a standard tape is approximately 2 inches wide, while a wide duct tape is about 2.83 inches to 12 inches wide. Some industrial master wide duct tape rolls can reach 49 inches.

How to Remove the Adhesive Layer of Wide duct Tape?

The adhesive layer of wide tape is twice as thick as that of standard tape, so it also leaves a thicker residual when it is removed. Here we recommend three methods for you to cleanly remove wide duct tapes.

  1. You can continuously stick the residual adhesive to the back of the torn tape, using its stickiness to lift it up.
  2. You can use external alcohol, adhesive remover, or WD-40 to remove the tape. Remember to test it first in an inconspicuous area to avoid damaging the surface of objects, especially plastic and car paint.
  3. You can use a hair dryer to slightly heat the edge of the tape, which can soften the rubber-based adhesive, making it easier to completely tear off.

How to Determine If Wide Duct Tape is Expired?

You can judge if you need to change your wide duct tape by observing its condition.

First, you can pull the tape. The adhesive of an expired tape will remain on the upper backing layer when pulled.

Second, you can smell the tape. The rubber adhesive of an expired wide duct tape oxidizes and deteriorates, emitting a strong sour smell.

Third, you can touch it. A slight fold of the expired wide duct tape’s plastic layer can cause cracks or shattering.

Finally, an expired wide duct tape has lost its adhesion. When you touch it, you can feel that it’s like dried paint.
